Family Camp is for everyone!

King’s Church annual Family Camp is a great way to spend the Easter holidays. It’s not just for families – whether you’re a child, youth age, single young adult, married, divorced, single parent, senior or anything in between you are welcome here!

At Family Camp it’s all about having fun together. Getting into the great outdoors and the sunshine, away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. The kids can go fishing, swimming, kick the football, jump a skipping rope ,ride their bikes, go kayaking and much more. Family Camp is a great opportunity to make friends and for our everyone to have an incredible camp experience.

When should we arrive?

Some church staff and families will be meeting at both King’s Church Reedy Creek and King’s Church Pimpama at 11am Thursday. You’re more than welcome to meet at either campus to follow us up or if you require a lift to the campsite.

Some of the church staff and families will be stopping for lunch at Fernvale Bakery at around 12:30pm. You’re more than welcome to join us there, or at Camp Somerset anytime from 2pm. Please do not arrive at the campsite before 2pm. Please organise your own transport or carpooling

When does it finish?

You are welcome to stay up until 5pm on Saturday after we’ve had lunch.

What if I can only come for a day?

A day-pass can be purchased from on the registration page. This covers your food and use of the campsite facilities.


The cabins are a combination of dormitory style rooms (8 pax) with a twin share room within the cabin. We have allocated beds to the best of our ability to serve the needs of our community, prioritising child safety.

There will be some situations where married couples (booked in twin share room), families and singles may be sharing a bathroom, so we would ask for appropriate care to be taken. Please remember these are shared facilities.

Single beds are provided in cabin accommodation, but no bedding. While children 0-5yrs are free, they are not allocated a bed. Please bring your own mattress, porta cot or similar for them to sleep on. Each cabin has a kitchenette and small fridge for your use.


The access to the campsite is a sharp left before the gate to Camp Somerset. Two of our camping locations, Koala Grove and Pelican Point, offer absolute frontage to Somerset Dam. These sites are unpowered but have tank water and two toilets.

We also have access to 6 powered sites at the third camp site, The Oval, closer to showers and toilets, but note that it does not have frontage to Somerset Dam. It is, however, closer to the main campsite where the cabins and eating areas are.

No camping gear is provided. As a result, be sure to bring everything you need for your level of comfort. Keep in mind, you will only be using your tent for sleeping, as all catering and activities are provided.

Fire pits are available for use. Firewood can be collected from nearby shrubland.

Those who are camping will need to drive or carpool to the main eating hall and showers each day.

What food is provided?

Clancy (the best caterer we know) will be personally catering our family camp, which includes Thursday dinner; Friday breakfast, lunch and dinner; and Saturday breakfast and lunch.

We suggest that you bring your own snacks for morning and afternoon tea to share (did somebody say TimTams?)

Please note that we will be placing all registrants on a roster to assist with food serving and cleaning.

What if I have dietary requirements?

Please let us know any dietary allergies/requirements during your registration process. We will be unable to meet any requests unless this is done.  

Can I bring my boat?

Yes! Please email Ps Matt on if you would like to bring your boat. Please note this requires a SEQ Water permit to be purchased by the owner.

What to bring?

  • SNACKS (we highly advise: some microwave popcorn for our movie night, marshmallows for our bonfire and delicious tapas food to share… Because who doesn’t love tapas?!?)
  • Bedding (including pillows, sheets, blankets)
  • Cards/board games
  • Toys for your children
  • Kayaks
  • Fishing gear
  • Tennis racquets
  • Pool toys
  • Bikes and scooters
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Towels
  • Swimmers
  • Standard overnight gear and toiletries
  • Bible + notepad (there will be short devotions in the mornings)

For cabin uses, please note they do not have cups, tea/coffee, cutlery or tea towels. We recommend you bring some along.


We have partnered with Camp Somerset to offer the following activities, which require registration here. All run at a cost of $20 per person and will be run on the Friday of camp. Day visitors are also welcome to register for the activities during their registration process. In the event that there are insufficient numbers, the activity will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund. Final RSVP and payments are required online during your registration process by 28th March. We can not take activity registrations past this time due to staffing restraints.

In addition to these paid activities, we have access to the full facilities of Camp Somerset, including boating and canoeing on the dam, frisbee golf, tennis and the swimming pool.

It is important to note that it is the responsibility of parents to monitor the safety of their own children, particularly in the water, at all times.

Is there phone reception?

No. Or, at the best, very limited. There is also no Wifi access at Camp Somerset – making it the most relaxing time around!! There is a coin-operated phone box for your use.

What if my plans change and I can no longer attend after registering?

Cancellations can be arranged by contacting the King’s Church office within one week of the commencement of the event for a full refund. Unfortunately, we are unable to give a refund from March 31st onwards.
